This is Michael Brady Lynch, Lead Trial Attorney for The Michael Brady Lynch Firm.
The Daily Mail recently reported doctors misdiagnose almost half of women with ovarian cancer. This mean to 4 in 10 patients with cancer did not have their symptoms taken seriously. Therefore, doctors did not perform the necessary ovarian cancer screenings for early detection. Many women who are now not only battling cancer but also have a legal battle over the disease as well.
Many of these women have filed lawsuits against companies such as Johnson & Johnson. A 2013 Journal of Cancer Prevention Research study showed that women who dusted their groin area with talcum powder had a 20-30% increased risk of developing ovarian cancer.
Manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson knew of these risks. Yet, they still failed to warn consumers of the dangers of talcum powder. Despite the growing body of evidence linking talcum powder to ovarian cancer, the company still markets its baby powder as a safe product for use in infants and women.
During the court case of the Estate of Jacqueline Fox v. Johnson & Johnson, internal company memos from Johnson & Johnson medical consultants surfaced. The 1997 memo stated “anyone who denies [the] risks between hygienic talc use and ovarian cancer would be publicly perceived in the same light as those who denied a link between smoking cigarettes and cancer. Denying the obvious in the face of all evidence to the contrary.”
As these lawsuits grow, The Michael Brady Lynch Firm Law is seeking to help those diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using Talcum powder. The firm has many years of experience fighting large pharmaceutical companies. These companies put dangerous drugs and devices onto the market, foregoing public safety for corporate greed.
