Litigation Explosion Looming Over Wright Hip Implant Failures

In my over 15 years of experience litigating medical device cases, I have seen any number of defectively designed hip implants. For months I have been watching with great interest the growing reports of complications and failures with the Wright Profemur and Conserve hip implants. It appears now that the Wright Profemur and Conserve hip implants have all the makings of another metal-on-metal hip implant disaster, looming in the wake of the DePuy ASR and Pinnacle hip fiascos.
There exists an ominous similarity to the design of the Wright Conserve model and the now infamous DePuy ASR hip implant. The problem with the Wright Profemur model is the Wright Profemur has an artificial femur shaft that is prone to fracture. According to 2009 data reported by the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Wright Profemur stems demonstrated an 11.2% failure rate at three years following the surgery to implant them.
Along the lines of the DePuy ASR and Pinnacle hip litigations, I expect an MDL to be formed very soon and a JCCP in California. I will keep my readers updated as to all developments in this regard.
