This is Michael Brady Lynch, lead trial attorney at The Michael Brady Lynch Firm.
Recent studies have indicated that Diflucan, the popular medication used to treat yeast infections, has been associated with birth defects including congenital heart defects and cleft palate. Diflucan joins a growing list of medications such as Lexapro, Celexa, Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Depakote, and Topamax, which unsuspecting women ingest during pregnancy without adequate warnings of the high risk of birth defects.
It appears that the problems are centered mostly with chronic users at the highest doses of Diflucan (400-800mg) during the first trimester. The FDA has changed the designation of Dilfucan from a category C to a category D for high doses of Diflucan.
If you or someone you know has taken Dilfucan and given birth to a child with a birth defect, please do not hesitate to contact me directly for a free, no-obligation evaluation of your case.
