The longstanding association of birth defects with the use of SSRI antidepressants such as Lexapro, Celexa, Zoloft, Prozac, and Paxil is nothing new. However, there may be a connection between SSRI’s and autism, a recent study revealed.
In the study, published in the journal Archives of General Psychiatry, researchers at Kaiser Permanente Northern California reviewed the medical records of more than 1,600 children, 298 of whom had autism spectrum disorder. They found that the risk of having a child with autism spectrum disorder was about twice as high among women who took SSRIs in the year before delivery.
If you or someone you know has taken a SSRI including Lexapro, Celexa, Zoloft, Prozac or Paxil and given birth to a child with autism or a birth defect, please contact me directly for a free, no-obligation evaluation of your claim.
