A new report about a Chicago teacher accused of abusing male students for years reveals that the principal knew all along. The teacher even used a camera hidden in his apartment closet to make secret pornographic videotapes of students of 19 students. A Chicago Tribune investigation uncovered a 58-page Chicago school report. In the report, four school district employees told investigators they had raised concerns with the school’s principal about the teacher’s interaction with male students. Failure to inform child welfare officials of possible sexual abuse is a violation of state law.
The cover-up goes even further. When the teacher’s crime became apparent, the CEO of Chicago schools did not start an investigation until he resigned nearly a year later. The previous CEO is now running for mayor of Chicago. Parents had to beg outside entities to investigate the totality of the teacher sexual abuse.

Inside the Report

The report had pages of eyewitness testimony revealing that the principal should have known for years that the teacher was a pedophile. One of the witnesses said she noticed the teacher at a party making advances to teenage boys. She fired the teacher as a volunteer at her school and warned the principal.
A school counselor at the school told the principal she received reports that the teacher would take boys to his apartment, make them pull down their pants and spank them. One again, nothing was done. Even when an engineer witnessed the teacher after hours in the basement with male students no recourse happened.
Because of this extreme neglect, it is unknown how many children this teacher sexually abused.
