Today, I had the pleasure of speaking in front of more than 100 attorneys at the 360 Advocacy Institute Topamax Summit at the Conrad Hotel in Chicago. It was an excellent conference on the dangers of the risk of cleft palate caused by Topamax taken during pregnancy. I had the opportunity to share the stage with some of my very close friends and enjoy some Chicago deep dish pizza. Importantly, I also met numerous attorneys who I am now working with on their birth defect cases.
I enjoy speaking at conferences. Over the years, I have chaired and served as a lecturer at dozens of conferences, ranging from the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice), the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Defense Research Institute, Mealey’s, Harris Martin, and Mass Torts Made Perfect on topics relating to the prosecution, trial and settlement of numerous mass tort cases. The Topamax birth defect case is such a sad chapter in the lives of so many children and parents who are the unsuspecting victims of the failure to warn of the known dangers of ingesting anti-seizure medications during pregnancy.
