The Special Victims Unit of Florida’s Clay County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, wrapped up a 3-month investigation into 32-year-old Jeremiah Paul Grover, a former Worship Leader for Elevate Life Church in Oakleaf Plantation. The alleged perpetrator was accused of multiple sex crimes. [1]
Grover allegedly engaged in sexual criminal conduct with a 16-year-old member of his church, meeting the minor in both Clay and Duval counties. He faces charges for unlawful sexual activity with a minor, [2] traveling to meet a minor, lewd and lascivious touching, and transmission of harmful material to minors. [3] He is currently being held on a bond of $325,015.
This disturbing situation brings to light some serious issues about the safety of minors in places we believe are safe, highlighting vulnerabilities within trusted institutions and the need to keep a close watch on our safety protocols. It’s a reminder of how important background checks, supervision, and clear ways to report concerns are for team members, volunteers, and any staff involved with children. [4]
