Benzene in Hair Care Products

Introduction

As of November 1, Valisure, an independent research company, testing products or harmful components, identified an extraordinarily high amount of benzene in several dry shampoo hair products. [1]

Benzene is a known carcinogen that has been widely mentioned over the last couple of years due to the recalls of products, such as aerosol sunscreen containing it. “High levels of benzene, a cancer-causing chemical, have been detected in more brands and batches of dry shampoo products, according to a new report from Valisure, an independent laboratory. [2]

Aerosol Dry Shampoos

Some of these brands that contain benzene at high parts per million include Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI, and TRESemmé. [3]
