Another dangerous collision is when a car makes a left-hand turn into a motorcycle. Experts think that due to the increase of distracted drivers on the road, they aren’t seeing cyclists. The National Safety Council (NSC) reports that 25% of all car accidents are related to the use of a cell phone.
The NHTSA reports motorcycles have a fatality rate of 72 per 100,000. Also, motorcyclists’ risk of an accident increasing per mile on the road. It is 35 times higher than a car driver. For example, in 2004, there were 37,304 auto crashes and 4,008 fatal motorcycle accidents.
