Reichel Foods Inc. is recalling Pro2Snax snack packs that include whole, hard-boiled eggs in relation to a contaminated production plant and a deadly Listeria outbreak. Anyone who bought this snack should be aware of its dangers.

About Listeria

GA WC AC HBE 1000x1000Listeria infection is a foodborne bacterial illness that can be very serious for pregnant women and people with impaired immune systems. Improperly processed deli meats and unpasteurized milk products breed the bacteria. Plus, it can survive refrigeration and even freezing. However, it is rare for healthy people to get a listeria infection, but the disease can be fatal to unborn babies and newborns.
Symptoms of Listeria infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Specific laboratory tests are required to diagnose Listeria infections, which can mimic other illnesses.

Hardboiled Egg Snacks Recalled Due to Listeria

After the FDA and CDC discovered Listeria at Reichel Food’s packaging facility in Gainesville, GA the government agencies urged the company to recall Pro2Snax. These are the apple, egg, egg, cheese and nuts combos.
Thus far there have not been any reported illnesses, however this facility has been in trouble with Listeria outbreaks in the past. In 2017, an outbreak from that facility killed one.
