An inspector with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has noted multiple violations at a Broward County Winn Dixie. These violations are so serious that the grocery story could be making customers sick.
About Food Outbreaks
The Centers for Disease Control estimates each year there are 48 million cases of food poisoning. Most recover within a few days, but sometimes food poisoning can be life-threatening or deadly for vulnerable populations. If food poisoning seriously injured you, you may be able to file a food poisoning lawsuit. The FDA is constantly updating about Food Safety Recalls.
Winn Dixie Outbreak
The report of a South Florida Winn Dixie showed that the store had many violations that if not treated could cause food poisoning to shoppers. The store didn’t have hand sinks with hot running water or proper plumbing in the wash area of the deli department. Other violations included:
- Bakery employees not washing their hands
- Sinks with improper draining
- Raw chicken stored with cooked meats
- Dirty baking pans stuck together
- Dried food stuck on the slicer and guard in the deli
- Unclean and crusty grease in the fryer
- Leaking freezers and refrigerators
The store has 30 days to make the changes, or the store faces shut down.
