A stunt plane accident killed a News anchor while on assignment. The family of the deceased is suing the plane’s owner and engine manufacturer for unspecified damages. The crash happened due to an engine malfunction that killed the anchor and the pilot.

About A Private Plane Accident

stunt planeMany think flying is safer than driving. For commercial planes, this can be the case. However, this isn’t the case for general aviation or private planes. Last year, almost 500 people died in private plane accidents. This could be due to pilot error, fuel shortage, or bad landings. Bad landings are the most common cause of non-fatal private plane accidents. Fatality risk rises with worse weather. If a pilot is using his instruments since he can’t see, the risk actually is greater.

Stunt Plane Crash

The family of the deceased News anchor has filed a civil lawsuit against the owner of Drug Fighters Enterprises and Lycoming Engines. The lawsuit alleges that the cause of the crash was a defective engine, and the plane should have never taken off. The crash also killed the pilot, who had delayed the takeoff due to mechanical problems. The family insists that Drug Fighters Enterprises failed to maintain good condition of the engine. Then, they insist the company knew about the problems. However, they allowed the aircraft to fly.

Also, the design of Lycoming Engines is unreasonably dangerous. There are safer alternative designs available, yet the company doesn’t manufacture them as frequently. A Federal Aviation Administration statement said the two-seater plane was a 1983 Aerotek Pitts S-2B aircraft. It crashed in an empty field and caught on fire. Numerous emergency responders came to the scene, however, both perished in the crash.
