The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a small newly built plane crashed and caught fire quickly after take off. There were two people in the plane, the owner and his instructor. Both went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
About A Private Plane Accident
Many think flying is safer than driving. For commercial planes, this can be the case. However, this isn’t the case for general aviation or private planes. Last year, almost 500 people died in private plane accidents. This could be due to pilot error, fuel shortage or bad landings. Bad landings are the most common cause of non-fatal private plane accidents. Fatality risk rises with worse weather. If a pilot is using his instruments since he can’t see, the risk actually is greater.
New Plane Crashes
The Federal Aviation Administration said the owner of the plane was trying to land the aircraft, but his speed was too slow. Paramedics rushed both men to the hospital with minor burns to their legs. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the airplane was upside-down and on fire. The FAA said the airplane was a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft manufactured in 2019. The certificate said October 16, only one week ago. It was the inaugural flight of the craft after engineers at the hanger built the plane.
An investigation is underway to determine if the plane’s construction caused the crash.
