DePuy ASR Hip Recall Problems Get Worse
Regular readers of this blog will remember that when the DePuy ASR Hip recall was first announced on August 24, 2010, I predicted that the problems that prompted the recall were understated and would only get worse.
Well, I was unfortunately right.
I have a lot of experience with defective hips. My experience in hip implant litigation goes back to over 10 years ago to 2001 and the Sulzer hip recall. I represented over two dozen men and women with Sulzer’s hips in that litigation, all of which required painful revision surgery.
The problems for the DePuy ASR hip are mounting daily as new revision rates are announced. Failure rates are much worse than predicted and the problem of metallosis poisoning from the metal-on-metal ASR implant is a looming specter of future serious injury and complication in the minds of both patients and doctors alike. If I had an ASR hip implanted in me, I, for one, would not wait until problems arise before having revision surgery to remove the device from my body.
There are hundreds of cases filed in both California state court and the Multi-District Litigation in Ohio. I strongly urge anyone with a Depuy ASR hip to contact me personally for a free evaluation of their claim.
