The Michael Brady Lynch Firm Files 2nd Invokana Ketoacidosis Lawsuit

December 15, 2015

For Immediate Release:

The Michael Brady Lynch Firm announces the filing of the nation’s second Invokana ketoacidosis lawsuit.

About Invokana Ketoacidosis Lawsuit

The case, Luana Jean Collie v. JANSSEN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT, LLC; JANSSEN PHARMACEUTICALS, INC.; JOHNSON & JOHNSON CO.; and MITSUBISHI TANABE PHARMA CORP., was filed in the United States District Court of the Southern District of Alabama Southern Division. Attorney Michael Brady Lynch of The Michel Brady Lynch Firm in Orlando, Florida and attorney Kristian Rasmussen of the Corey Watson firm in Birmingham, Alabama, are the counsel of record of the file.

Ms. Collie began taking Invokana on December 3rd, 2014. Only 12 days later, she fell critically ill and was rushed to the hospital via EMS. Ms. Collie was admitted for 12 days to the ICU, where she was diagnosed with life-threatening diabetic ketoacidosis. Ms. Collie was released from the hospital the day after Christmas, with ongoing pain and suffering from the injuries caused by Invokana.

The Michel Brady Lynch Firm is also counsel on the first Invokana lawsuit filed in the country, JENNIFER ANZO, Plaintiff, v. JANSSEN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT, LLC; JANSSEN PHARMACEUTICALS, INC.; JOHNSON & JOHNSON, filed in October in the United States District Court of the Eastern District of California.

“The recent FDA decision to add a much needed and long awaited warning for ketoacidosis to the Invokana label is indicative of the problems with this drug,” said attorney Michael Brady Lynch. “Ms. Collie suffered from the exact condition the FDA now warns as a potentially life-threatening medical condition associated with Invokana use. Sadly, the warning was too little and too late to prevent this horrible event.”
